Starring: Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Billy Burke, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Cam Gigandit, Nikki Reed, etc.
Rating: PG-13
Grade: B or C+

Bella Swan has always been a little bit different, never caring about fitting in with the trendy girls at her Phoenix high school. When her mother re-marries and sends Bella to live with her father in the rainy little town of Forks, Washington, she doesn't expect much of anything to change. Then she meets the mysterious and dazzlingly beautiful Edward Cullen, a boy unlike any she's ever met. Edward is a vampire, but he doesn't have fangs and his family is unique in that they choose not to drink human blood. Intelligent and witty, Edward sees straight into Bella's soul. Soon, they are swept up in a passionate, thrilling and unorthodox romance. To Edward, Bella is what he has waited 90 years for -- a soul mate. But the closer they get, the more Edward must struggle to resist the primal pull of her scent, which could send him into an uncontrollable frenzy. But what will Edward & Bella do when a clan of new vampires -- James, Laurent and Victoria -- come to town and threaten to disrupt their way of life?

Have you ever been so obsessed with something or someone that you've thought that maybe you should get your head checked? I have and even though I'm 28 now, I can't seem to care that I was right there at that midnight showing with all of those other teeny boppers cheering every time Edward Cullen came onto the screen.

I know, I know, it's pathetic but I couldn't help it. Edward is hawt stuff.

As far as the movie goes, it wasn't as spectacular as I was expecting and the book is ten times better than the movie but that didn't stop me from eating the entire movie up. I sat there and thought to myself, wow I remember that, ooh I remember that and oh yay, I know what's going to happen next and it was just a really good way to spend a few hours for this Twilight fan.

It's hard for me to review this movie because I liked it but I also thought that it could have been better...I just don't know how.

The actors did a great job at their parts. Bella did stupid things and she was exactly the way that I pictured Bella to be. Young and dumb and annoying at times. Edward was just as hawt and as fantastic and as stalkerish as I remembered from the books (with the exception of Eclipse because we all know how I felt about him in that one) and I loved him. I loved him in the book and I loved him in the movie. I ate up every moment that he was on the big screen.

The movie followed the book for the most part but there was just something missing from it all. Don't ask me what it was but there was something missing and as much as I enjoyed the movie here are some of the things that I didn't like.

  • When Edward shows Bella what he looks like in the sun, in the book he looks all glimmery and like thousands of diamonds are shining all over his body. In the movie, he just looks like he took an extra long dip in his Esme's Body Glitter by Victoria. And then when Bella tells him he's "beautiful" like that, I wanted to slap her and give her my glasses because beautiful he was not, girly was more like it.
  • I didn't like that we didn't get to see very much of the secondary characters. It was like everyone revolved around Bella and Edward. In the books, we got to know the other characters but I didn't see much of that in the movie. Everything was glossed over and I wanted to see more of Jasper.
  • Rosalie wasn't as pretty as I expected from the book. I mean, when we first saw who they casted as Edward, I thought, yeah right he's not pretty enough to be Edward but in the movie, I saw why they cast him because he fit in the role of Edward Cullen. I thought he was damn near perfect as Edward, I can't say the same about Rosalie. I kept waiting for her to grow on me and when she didn't, it sucked.
  • How lame the antagonists were. James, Victoria and Laurant were in the movie and I just thought that they were lame. They weren't scary, they were stupid and just lame, lame, lame-o.

There are more things that I'm surely forgetting but oh well, those are the major things that I didn't care for in the movie.

As a whole, I enjoyed the movie and I think Twilight fans will be okay with it. If you can get past all of the lame shit that happens like with James and Edward's ballerina shine then I'm sure you'll enjoy the movie, just don't go in expecting to be blown away by the perfection that is this movie because you might be disappointed.

I've got some questions about the other movies though because word on the street is that they are talking about shooting movies for all of the books and that means that New Moon is up next. I wonder if they're going to cast an older Jacob since Jacob got considerably bigger in that book and older. Shark Boy did well as Jacob in this movie but he's too young to play the impossibly ginormous Jacob that we'll meet in the other books.

I enjoyed this movie and I'm sure you will too so I would spend another $10 to watch this one again...but then again, I'm Twilight obsessed and there's on cure for it.

I saw it at midnight last night (the night of my 26th birthday I might add...no shame here..!)

Did the folks in your theater laugh a lot more than might have been necessary?! There were some LOL moments that…weren’t probably intended to be funny.

There were points that I was like…..Uhhhhhhh you’ve GOT to be kidding me. Cheesey/campy factor to the MAX.

But I have to say Rober P. was SUPER freakin’ hot. Loved him. I was orginally apprehensive when they cast him. Cedric was just...NOT EDWARD. But seeing the clips and previews...he grew on me. And the movie? DAMN that boy is FINE. Fo' sho'.

I felt the first half of the movie was excruciatingly awkward and painful to watch -- some of it was the natural awkwardness…some of it was just plain bad acting. And I thought Edward was kind of awkward for a hundred year old vamp... he should have been a little more smooth. Bella was good at being the clumsy, ordinary 17 year old.

Overall though, I enjoyed it. I will definitely see it again. And I think it will grow on me more.

I think a C+ is an accurate grade.

I know what you mean, this movie was definitely a movie that I will definitely shuck out more money to watch because I'm totally obsessed again (and that's not a good thing). I thought RP did a great job of portraying Edward, even when he was all awkward and stuff.

I wouldn't say that the first part of the movie was awkward for me to watch but I just wish that we could have seen more from the secondary characters but it's hard to squeeze every little thing from the books into the movie without making it 20 hours long so overall, I was happy with the movie.

I'll definitely be seeing it again.

What parts were cheesy to the max for you? I thought I could remember some but I can't for the life of me right now. *sigh*

Oh and no, for the most part...people laughed at the appropriate times, we got a lot of teens in the theater but they were all super engrossed in the movie to be dumb and laugh at every little thing.

Glad you enjoyed the movie Rowena :D I was wondering what you'd think of it :) I guess that's the advantages of not reading the book :P

I agree with Mollie though... the first half was very naturally awkward... esp. when Edward was stalking Bella :)

and LOL at the Esme's Body Glitter by Victoria :P That's what I thought too :)

Good review. I'm still jealous you were able to go. For me, I'll be waiting for netflix.

I saw it last night also. I reviewed it here and I have to say that I basically felt the same way. I was satisfied but felt like it could have been better. I wasn't over the top for it, but I did love Edward. Doesn't that guy have a fantastic jawline? rawr.

I saw it on Friday.

I've never read any of the books so had no reference. All I knew was that it was about vampires. I wanted to see what the big whoop was all about.

I thought it sucked. Ha! Not my kind of movie.

When Bella told Eddie that he was beautiful ... like diamonds. Pleez!

i wonder what will be more successful/popular in the long run, Twilight or Harry Potter
