Army Wives- The Messenger

Posted by: Isabel in ,

Nothing much happened this episode.

Claudia Joy is still having a hard time moving forward. Which is expected. I understand but she can't forget about the other people who love and need her.

Denise helps a patient who helps bring back what Denise was like before she became an army wife. Which is fine. But looking at the next week's previews if she cheats on her hot hubby I'll hate her for the rest of the show.

Roxy gets to talk to Trevor. Which was cool. Roxy has to deal with Betty being a butthead. Which... I get Betty is dying and she lost her bar. But Roxy took her in. She didn't have to. Betty should be thanking her lucky stars and stop her complaining. Then Betty is yelling at Roxy's kid which wasn't necessary. Sucks she couldn't have kids but still.

The cutest part of this episode was Ben asking and taking Claudia Joy out on a date. And then when the waitress brings the check, he's yelling out for his mom. TOO CUTE!

Two Mini Reviews

The heroic Leonidas, armed with nothing by leather underwear and a cape, leads a ragtag group of 13--count ‘em, 13!--Spartans to defend their homeland against the invading Persians (whose ranks include Ghost Rider, Rocky Balboa, the Transformers, and a hunchbacked Paris Hilton--no one is safe when the Spartans take on the biggest icons in pop culture).

My dad was bored and rented this one. This was just dumb. There are few funny parts but that's about it. I say wait until it comes out on tv and if your bored, watch it.

Treasure hunter Benjamin Franklin Gates looks to discover the truth behind the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, by uncovering the mystery within the 18 pages missing from assassin John Wilkes Booth's diary.

I kept hearing this one wasn't as good as the first. Honestly, I liked it just as much as the first one. I want to what's up with page 47 though. Maybe the next movie will explain it.

You Don't Mess with the Zohan

Posted by: ~ames~ in , , ,

So I went to see You Don't Mess with the Zohan on Saturday. And I'm still laughing today, Wednesday.

I am an Adam Sandler fan. Happy Gilmore, the Water Boy, the Longest Yard, whatever. I love it.

Zohan is sick of the war. He's the top military operative for Israel and he's sick of fighting and death. So in a battle against his bitter enemy, the Phantom, Zohan fakes his own death and runs off to America, where he hopes to fulfill his dream of becoming a hair dresser. In America, he creates a new identity for himself (his new name is too funny and his haircut is from the 80s) and goes about becoming a hairdresser. But a man from whom he once stole a prize goat recognizes him and screws up Zohan's plan for a peaceful life in America.

That's basically the gist of it. LOL There's also a bit of a small community getting overtaken by a dodgy businessman and more stuff with the Phantom.

Now this movie isn't for everyone. There's sex with old ladies and basically everyone gets poked fun at. So yeah, if you're an Adam Sandler fan, I definitely recommend it.

The hummus love in this movie is hilarious, and what I keep laughing about. :P

The Other Boleyn Girl

Posted by: Isabel in , , , ,

Two sisters, Anne and Mary Boleyn, are driven by their ambitious Father and Uncle to advance the family's power and status by courting the affections of the King of England. Leaving behind the simplicity of country life, the girls are thrust into the dangerous and thrilling world of court life--and what began as a bid to help their family develops into a ruthless rivalry between Anne and Mary for the love of the King. Initially, Mary wins King Henry's favor and becomes his mistress, bearing him two illegitimate children. But Anne, clever, conniving and fearless, edges aside both her sister and Henry's wife, Queen Katherine of Aragon, in her relentless pursuit of the King. Despite Mary's genuine feelings for Henry, her sister Anne has her sights set on the ultimate prize; Anne will not stop until she is Queen of England. As the Boleyn girls battle for the love of a King--one driven by ambition, the other by true affection--England is torn apart.

I liked the movie. I thought it was pretty good. I've heard the book is better though. One day I'll read it.

My favorite scene has to be when Catherine runs into Mary and Anne. She just puts Anne in her place. Although after watching season 1 of The Tudors, I have a soft spot for her. I also liked when Catherine scolded Henry. What was it she said, "All for a girl who denied you." (I tried looking for the quote but I couldn't find it."

Anne was a bitch is the movie. She really made me want to slap her silly and I kept thinking, "You're gonna get yours so enjoy it while you can." And I swear, in the coronation scene, where Anne has her robes, crown and scepters, I almost expected her to starting jumping up and down and laugh all evil like.

As for Mary. I felt bad for her. She didn't want to be Henry's mistress. Then she ended up falling in love with him only to see Anne manipulate her way into Henry's bed. But no matter how horrible Anne was to her, Mary stuck up for her sister.

I give this movie a B.

And Ames, your man Eric Bana was pretty hot in the movie. I think he needed more screen time for sure.

Army Wives- Strangers in a Strange Land

Posted by: Isabel in ,

Rowena and I both watched Army Wives last night and here is what we had to say.

Izzy: Did you watch Army Wives?

Rowena: yes, I watched Army Wives...I really like this show, do you think Denise is really going to cheat on her husband? Oh gosh, I hope she doesn't because I really like her husband. He's sexy to me for an older guy. And dude, as skinny as Trevor is, I LOVE HIM! And I think that Chase is dorky hunky cute! He's the Special Ops guy? Dude...he's so like a Navy SEAL guy, LOVE IT! I'm seriously loving this Army business, makes me want to find me an Army husband, LOL.

Izzy: I don't think she will. She can't. Frank luvs her and she luvs frank. If they make her cheat, I'll be very upset.

Although...I like Roxy but dude. She needs to stop being all... annoying. lol. Like how she went and talked to the guy about keeping Betty on and last week when she went to Joan about where Trevor was. They would have not let her get away with that at all in the army. I mean... come on. Stop making her all dumb like that.

When Chase was telling Pam about he didn't know if she was dead or alive and he said, "Is this what she goes through?" I was like... aw....maybe now he'll start keeping in better contact with her.

Rowena: I know, me too! I am going to be super pissed if Denise goes through and cheats on Frank but they've already done the cheating storyline with Marilyn and then with Roland. Come on, don't go there again. Not with Denise and Frank, do you think if she does do it and Frank finds out, do you think he'll be like Jeremy and hit Denise? Dude...that would be interesting.

Roxy kind of gets on my nerves. She does a lot of stuff that drives me up the wall, I hated when she went to every frickin' person on the post to find out where Trevor was. And then when she's all whining about it to Pam and Denise like their husbands didn't get shipped off as well? But I guess, it's because it's her first time Trevor has ever deployed or whatever, maybe that's why? We'll just have to wait and see, I hope she's learned her lesson. When she gets all hoity toity with the hospital staff over Betty's stuff...I was like, who died and made you God over all the civilians? I just don't see any Army Wife going to all these top dawgs and demanding things the way that Roxy does. It makes her look so dumb.

I'm glad that Joan is going to keep the baby though, I'm glad she did it for Roland because I felt bad for Roland.

And I got all misty eyed when Chase and Pamela were finally talking about everything...and when Chase shut Pam up with her, "You don't know what I went through" ...*sigh* He's such a dream boat that Chase! So manly and so...YUMMY! I can't wait to see more between these two. I love that he's the Special Ops guy, it makes him so much more sexier...

Izzy: Yeah, Roxy just.. ugh she gets on my nerves sometimes. And there's another thing that bothered me. Frank and Trevor are deployed together right? How did Frank know about what happened with the bar and not Trevor? Maybe cause he's been moving around?

I can understand Roxy being freaked out. I do. But to go around asking everyone where he is was a little much for me. That and Joan just telling her. Cause I don't know if that would happen in real life ya know?

Yeah I thought for sure Joan was going through with the abortion but I"m glad she kept it too. I like how she looked all confused when.. what's Claudia Joy's hubby's name again... was all happy for her and talking about her maternity leave. ha ha.

Yeah... I'm glad Chase and Pam finally talked and yeah, i agree. It was sweet when he shut her up. I'm really hoping now when he deploys, he'll let her know he's ok now that he felt what Pam goes through.

What about Claudia Joy? I feel so bad for her. I can't imagine what she's going through.

Rowena: You know what? You're right...I totally forgot that they got deployed together. Frank and Trevor that is, so why is it that Frank knew about the bombing but not Trevor? Is it because Frank is at a command post and Trevor is in the thick of everything? Is that why? Weird. We're gonna have to watch and see what's up with that.

I can see her being freaked out but I don't see how they're letting her get away with all the questions she's asking, all the trouble she's stirring with all of her little crap sessions. I don't see it happening in real life either, it just doesn't make sense.

Mike, is that CJ's husband's name? I felt bad for their daughter when all they did was fight, like she wasn't grieving and needed them too. That was cute, how she made them face their problems and work them out. I liked that Denise could be there for CJ the way she was, with letting the daughter come and stay with her. I felt bad when CJ had that panic attack at the PX. Poor thing.

How sexy is Chase though? Even if he looks like a dork sometime with how high his pants are on his waist. But still, I love me some Chase!

Izzy: Maybe that's why Trevor doesn't know and Frank does.

Michael! Yes. i think that's his name. And yes, I'm glad Denise was there for Cj. For once CJ needed someone to take care of her. I liked that.

I think Chase is hot but Trevor and Frank are hotter to me. I don't know why. Frank just cause he's sooo manly man. lol.

Rowena: Last season, it was all about Trevor for me but this season, I'm loving all of them...and there's just something about Frank that I absolutely love. Maybe it's just how manly man he is, I just effing love him.

Izzy: I know. Frank has always been my favorite. Same reason you just mentioned. Just manly man but you know he adores his wife and would do anything for his family. Which is why Denise better not cheat on Frank.

Today's offerings all got bad reviews when they came out in the theater.

I'm still gonna watch Jumper. But the Other Boleyn Girl sucked BIG DONKEY BALLS. If you must watch it, please promise me you'll read the book - which is the awesome! The Bucket List? Meh.

Army Wives-Would You Know My Name

Posted by: Isabel in ,

So yesterday season 2 of Army Wives started. I was looking forward to this. Season 1 ended with Marilyn's husband walking into the Hump Bar with explosives strapped to himself.

The premiere of season 2 answered some questions, but left me with a lot of questions. It also tricked me.

If you haven't watched the episode and don't like spoilers, I suggest you stop now.

All right, the commercials said someone close dies. I thought it would be Betty, the owner of the Hump Bar. She's unconscious and not responding. She's bandaged up so I thought she's a goner and that Roxy would inherit the bar.

Roland is fine and moved back in with Joan. But now, where do they stand with their marriage? More importantly, what about the baby? Is Joan going to keep it or not? I know her military career is important to her.

Roxy is freaking out over Trevor's deployment. She hasn't heard from him. She's refusing to leave the house afraid she's going to miss his call. But... doesn't she have a cell phone and doesn't he have the number?

Nothing much going on with Pam and Denise. Denise is helping at the hospital. Pam is trying to soothe Roxy's fears about Trevor.

Then we have Claudia Joy and Amanda. Claudia Joy is helping Amanda get settled in Harvard. Now I was looking forward to Amanda and Jeremy's storyline. I was hoping we'd see them work things out, get back together and both families get over everything.

But then we see Amanda getting all teary eyed and then.. we have the flashbacks of Amanda receiving CPR, her father in the background crying, Amanda and Claudia Joy with no bruises and scars... and then Amanda walking towards the light. What the hell? Amanda gets offed? What about her love for Jeremy? So thoughts of Betty dying and Roxy inheriting the Hump Bar were wrong. Damn though, so did not see that coming.

I wanna know if Marilyn survived the blast or not. I wonder if she'll start being nicer now.

So this season looks interesting. We'll see what happens.

Kung Fu Panda

Posted by: ~ames~ in , , ,

I took my brothers to see Kung Fu Panda yesterday. When I saw the first preview way back when, I wasn't impressed. I thought "Oh God - what next?" But then just a few weeks ago, I saw a different preview and I laughed so hard, I knew this was going o be a winner. And was it ever! I laughed so hard, my brothers laughed so hard and all the parents and teeny weeny kids in the theater laughed so hard. I had tears at one point!!

Jack Black voices Po, our chubby panda working in a noodle shop. He dreams of being a Kung Fu master, so when the search is on for the legendary Dragon warrior, Po races to the Jade Temple to get a look at the chosen one. So yeah, the Jade Temple is at the top of a veeeery long flight of stairs and Po is not in the greatest shape. By the time he gets to the top, Po has been shut out of the Temple as the ceremony begins.

Desperate to get inside, Po geniusly straps himself to a chair tied to a bunch of firecrackers. He gets inside the Temple, only to be chosen as the Dragon Warrior. To the delight of NONE. Master Shifu and Master Tigress are both severely disappointed. Master Shifu throws all he can at Po, but Po doesn't give up.

Behind all of this is danger in the form of Master Shifu's former student Tai Lung, a snow leopard. Master Shifu fears him so much, thus the search for the Dragon Warrior. Tai Lung is in prison, and Shifu fears his escape.

Kung Fu Pando is the awesomeness and I highly recommend going to see this movie. It's the good stuff.

Defending Your Life

Posted by: Isabel in , ,

Defending Your Life is a 1991 romantic comedy/fantasy film about a man who must justify his life-long lack of assertiveness after he dies and arrives in the afterlife.

There isn't a plot summary on yahoo. Basically, when you die, you are taken to Judgment City. There were spend a couple of days before a judge. They will decided if you have faced your fears and if you are ready to move on. If not, you will have to go back to Earth.

Daniel is staying at the Continental Hotel. Your basic Holiday Inn. His trial will last 9 days. During his trial it shows he never faced his fears. He made bad and stupid decisions. He also never really stuck up for himself.

While in Judgement City he meets Julia. We learn Julia's trial is only 4 days and she's staying the Majestic. A really nice fancy hotel. She even has a jacuzzi in her bathroom. She's lead a life of courage. In her past life she was Prince Valiant. (You can go to the Past Lives Pavilions and see who were in the past. This one old lady screams when she sees she was a sumo wrestler)

I recorded this movie on the DVR and finally got a chance to watch it. Daniel kind of got on my nerves at times. Otherwise good movie.
