What Shows Are YOU Looking Forward To?

Posted by: Rowena in ,

With the fall season fast approaching, Amy, Isabel and myself got to talking about the shows that we're all excited to return to our small screens. So many of our returning shows as well as new shows that we are looking forward to checking out.

It's hard not to be excited when there's so much to be excited about. Old shows being resurrected with new characters (WOOT!), Pacey Witter coming back with a brand spankin' new show of his own, Swollen Face from Grey's coming back to the small screen with a cute little show as well. See? Too many shows to watch in so little time but that's neither here nor there.

Check out the shows that all of us are anxiously awaiting.

Rowena:
  • One Tree Hill (come on, are you surprised at this one? I NEED to find out who the heck Lucas called to go to Vegas with him. It BETTER not be Lindsay. I already know it's not Brooke.)

  • Brothers and Sisters. (I need to find out what the heck is going to happen between Rebecca and Justin, WTF? THEY KISSED? THEY FRICKIN KISSED? GROSS but at the same time, YAY!)

  • Friday Night Lights.
  • Gossip Girl.
  • The Office.
  • Pushing Daisies.
  • Prison Break.
  • Samantha Who?
The new shows that premiere this season that I'm going to check out:
  • Beverly Hills, 90210 2.0 (WOO HOO KELLY AND BRENDA ARE BACK!)
  • Fringe (YAY PACEYS BACK ON TV)
  • Privileged
  • The Ex-List
  • True Blood (Ames has intrigued me about this show so I'm going to be checking it out)
My list is similar to Wena's - we love the same stuff. LOL
  • The Office. Because I love Pam and Jim.
  • Gossip Girl. I want to see more of B and S. What happened over the summer? Are Serena and Dan gonna get back together?
  • Pushing Daisies. No explanation required for this one. I once said it was like Tim Burton for t.v. I plain love it.
  • Friday Night Lights. Wena got me hooked on this show.
  • Grey's Anatomy. Yeah, I'm one of the few that still watches this show. LOL
  • Heroes. I love me some Milo!
  • Desperate Housewives-I don't really watch it, but when it's on, I have it on in the background.LOL
  • America's Next Top Model
  • Saturday Night Live!

There are some shows that have been on the air that I've decided to check out:

  • Samantha Who-I watched a couple of episodes during the writer's strike, so I need to catch up on this series.
  • 30 Rock
  • Ugly Betty
Shows from the new fall line up I'm interested in:
  • TRUE BLOOD
  • 90210
  • Fringe
  • The Mentalist
  • The Ex List
  • Kath and Kim
Izzy

All right, returning shows I'll be checking out:

Prison Break- Michael is out to avenge Sarah's death. He's a sexy man on a mission. And... turns out she may still be alive!!!!

Bones- I started watching towards the end of last season. Now I'm watching season 1 and 2 to get caught up.

Grey's Anatomy- Don't worry Ames, I still watch it too. lol
CSI Vegas- Will Warrick live or die? And Grissom is leaving!!! As long as Nick stays, I'm happy.
Pushing Daisies- I heart Ned.

New shows I'll be checking out:

The Ex List
My Own Worst Enemy.

I would check out Tru Blood but because this is on HBO and I'm loser who doesn't have HBO, i have to wait until it comes out on dvd to watch it.

So what are you guys watching this season or looking forward to?

Wow.

Starring
: Meryl Streep, Pierce Bronson, Amanda Seyfried, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgard, Julie Walters, Christine Baranski, etc.
Rating: PG-13, for some sex related material
Grade: C

Donna, an independent, single mother who owns a small hotel on an idyllic Greek island, is about to let go of Sophie, the spirited daughter she's raised alone. For Sophie's wedding, Donna has invited her two lifelong best girlfriends--practical and no-nonsense Rosie and wealthy, multi-divorcee Tonya--from her one-time backing band, Donna and the Dynamos. But Sophie has secretly invited three guests of her own. On a quest to find the identity of her father to walk her down the aisle, she brings back three men from Donna's past to the Mediterranean paradise they visited 20 years earlier. Over 24 chaotic, magical hours, new love will bloom and old romances will be rekindled on this lush island full of possibilities.
I swear, I think I'm the only person on the face of this earth, besides my nieces Chloe and Chelsea who didn't fall in love with this movie. First of all, I was really digging when the women were singing the Abba songs but once Pierce Bronson aka James Bond started singing the songs, we were torn between laughter and embarrassment for him.

The storyline itself was a nice, fun storyline for a movie and I enjoyed the setting. I thought the main character, Sophie was beautiful and she had a great voice. I laughed through out the movie but I still wasn't blown away or anything, but I'd recommend this movie to those who love musicals, it's not my favorite but it will probably be someone elses, so definitely check it out.

The Post I've Been Waiting to Write.

Last night was the premiere of that famous zip code, 90210 and I, for one watched the entire show.

I mean, they promised Kelly Taylor and Brenda Walsh, how could I not watch?

*sigh*

It was like coming home. It's so funny to see them filming at "West Beverly" again or in my real world, Torrance High, which is the high school that my nephew Jarred just graduated from last year and while I'm typing out this post, is the high school that is literally two minutes away from me right now. It's where Brenna plays basketball and it has the football stadium that I HATE. But wow does it look good on screen. LOL.

Anyway, as for how much I liked the show..I really enjoyed it. It's a good mix of old school 90210 (NAT IS BACK TOO!) and new school 90210 and I can already tell there's going to be a lot of drama and I already have a boyfriend on there. Mr. Ryan Matthews, of course. My favorite of the teens is Navid. I love his name and I just love his personality on the show. He's such a cutie patootie.

It was good to see Brenda and Kelly back together again on the small screen and I hope that each of the oldies come back some time during this run on 90210. It would be great to see David Silver come visit his sister, Erin which I totally remember from the first 90210...and then Andrea has a daughter on here and the Brenda and Brandon of the show aren't so bad either. Their Dad (Rob Estes) grew up in Beverly Hills and might have a kid who's not a kid anymore and he has to figure out how he's going to deal with that bomb and then there's Aunt Becky turned Mama Bear of the Kansas crew.

It should be interesting to see how this all pans out. I'm looking forward to seeing more of the kids and even more with Kelly Taylor, this is a show that I can totally get into so woo hoo, bring on the 90210 drama.

Did anyone see the premiere last night? Anyone have any thoughts?

Mini Reviews

Jesus Christ Superstar

Burper loaned me the movie. Wow. It was interesting and it makes me wonder which drugs they were using when they did this movie. ha ha. But it was entertaining. After the movie I kept humming Superstar and King Herod's song.

I think it's still on demand. Worth checking out if you like Andrew Lloyd Weber.

Hairspray

I didn't care for it. Had I seen this movie first, I probably wouldn't have wanted to watch the musical.

Also was on demand. So if your bored, check it out.

Street Kings

I had a headache the night we watched this movie. I was confused at the end. Joey had to explain they are all freaking dirty except Keanu had a little honor in him.

It was all right. Joey enjoyed it though.

Full Metal Jacket

I have to be in a war movie mood. War movies really aren't my cup of tea. Since I had my headache, I stuck just laying on the couch. Moving made the room spin so I had no choice but to kind of watch/listen to this movie.

First of all.. I didn't know that's where "Me so horny" and "Me love you long time." came from!!!! Dang.

My husband's favorite quote, which I can't believe I can't find on youtube in english. Click here. If it doesn't work, watch this video and here is the translation:

Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: [chanting] This is my rifle.
Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: [grabbing their crotches] This is my gun.
Marines: This is for fighting.
Marines: [grabbing their crotches] This is for fun.

And yes, Joey sometimes walks around doing that.

Anyway, I did like the movie. I thought it was jacked up what they did to Pyle. But then I'd be pissed too if I was being punished for Pyle's mistakes. I asked Joey, "Why did they even let him in. You can tell he's not all there!"

So if you're in a war movie mood, this one is worth checking out.

Spiderman 3

Sucked. I don't care for the Spiderman movies. Never been into Spiderman. The first one was all right. Second one... meh. This one just sucked for me.

Overcome by the power of memory, Ann Lord reveals a long-held secret to her concerned daughters; Constance, a content wife and mother, and Nina, a restless single woman. Both are bedside when Ann calls out for the man she loved more than any other. But who is this Harris, wonder her daughters, and what is he to our mother?

While Constance and Nina try to take stock of Anne's life and their own lives, their mother is tended to by a night nurse as she journeys in her mind back to a summer weekend some fifty years ago, when she was Ann Grant, a young woman who has come from New York City to be maid of honor at the high-society Newport wedding of her dearest friend from college, Lila Wittenborn.

The bride-to-be is jittery, and turns to her maid-of-honor, rather than her own mother, for support. Ann stays close to her friend, yet is even closer to Lila's irrepressible brother Buddy. Unexpected feelings surge forth once Ann meets wedding guest Harris Arden, a lifelong friend and intimate of the Wittenborn family. Ann's love for Harris will change her life, and those of her daughters, forever.

This movie jumps back and forth with flashbacks and present time. I didn't care for the present time story line. I was more into the flashbacks. I only watched the present time stuff to see if there were any clues to what ended up happening.

When Anne was younger, she visits her best friend Lila. She is to be the maid of honor in Lila's wedding. Lila's brother Buddy tells Anne there is still time to stop the wedding. He reveals how Lila has been in the love with Harris, the house keeper's son, since she was 15.

After what I think is the rehearsal dinner, Anne takes Buddy out for some fresh air. He's really really drunk. In fact, he's drunk all weekend. Harris comes out to help Anne. After Harris puts Buddy to sleep he joins Anne on a walk. During their walk, Anne reveals that Buddy had picked out a star for her, among other things. Harris asks if Buddy loves her. She says no. It was just something so when she saw those things she would think of Buddy. So Harris picks out a star to remind her of the man she kissed at her best friend's wedding. They kiss.

The next morning, Anne asks Lila if she really wants to go through with the wedding. Lila says yes. Turns out Lila told Harris she loved him and she would run away with him. But Harris did not return the feelings. So on with the wedding. At the reception, Anne gets up on stage to sing a song for Lila. Half way through the song, Harris joins her up on stage.

After the reception, Buddy tries to kiss Anne. Harris stops Buddy but then Buddy kisses Harris. When he realizes what he's done, he runs inside. Anne finds him and Buddy says he had a crush on Harris but isn't that way. He then pulls out a note Anne had wrote him a few years ago. He suggests they should get married and that Anne is his true love. Anne turns him down saying it wouldn't work.

Afterwards, Buddy joins the rest of the bridal party who are jumping off a cliff into the water below. Anne and Harris join just as Buddy jumps. After giving the crowd a scare by not surfacing, Buddy appears. Anne slaps him and tells him to be a man. She storms off. Harris joins her and she tells him to take her away from everyone.

Harris brings her to this little cottage where they do the wild thing. Not knowing as Buddy was following them, got hit by a car. The next morning, Anne and Harris arrive at the house learning Buddy died.

The movie then flashes forward to Anne running into Harris in the street. He's hailing a cab for him, his wife and son. Anne tells him she has a daughter and married the best man from Lila's wedding. Harris reveals he still knows which star is theirs. They part ways.

I had the same question older Anne had when she asked Lila, "Shouldn't one of us married Harris?" YES!! YES ANNE! YOU SHOULD HAVE! What happened that you two split up? You should have married Harris. Sigh.

Anyways, I enjoyed the flashback parts of the movie. I thought Patrick Wilson (aka Raoul from Phantom) looked yummy. If you have time to rent this go ahead. Or wait for on demand.

And The World As I Know It...

...has just been righted.

Tonight was the premiere of my all time favorite show, One Tree Hill. Everything that I've spent numerous months wondering about has finally come to light and everything that I've waited 5 long years for has finally come to pass and it seems like they'll stay that way for some time to come.

Oh. Em. Gee.

I can die a happy woman because FINALLY, FINALLY, FINALLY Lucas and Peyton are TOGETHER, like no more problems, no more people standing in the way, no more stubborn pride keeping them apart...they are TOGETHER and I knew, in my heart of hearts that Lucas called Peyton to run away to Vegas to get married. Seeing these two together, happy again just makes everything I've done and every letter I've written worth it because after the pain and the rain and just everything, makes everything that A okay in my world.

*sigh*

But wow, so much to cover in this post aside from LUCAS AND PEYTON FINALLY BEING TOGETHER!!! I totally did a happy dance but that's neither here nor there.

*squeeeaaaa*

Alright, let's start off with Nathan and Haley...not much to say on these two but I guess Nathan's NBA hope might not come to pass since he's having back pains, which sucks because I know how much Nathan wants to make that come back. And then Jamie is just too effing cute. That is my jam that he was dancing to, oh hot damn, this is my jam, we be partying til the A.M. ...I was jammin' right along with them.

I was sorry to see Mouth and Millicent leave but I'm sure they'll still be around so it's all good in the hood.

I'm still hella excited about LUCAS AND PEYTON BEING TOGETHER!

Dude, the whole Dan and Carrie thing. Wow. They both deserve eachother but boy do I feel bad for Carrie when Dan escapes because make no mistake about that, he WILL get better and he WILL escape and she better hope that he never finds her again because she WILL pay for everything that she's doing to him right now....and should she ever go near Jamie again, I shudder to think about what Dan would do to her...but boy do I look forward to it. Who the hell does she think she is, trying to come in and be the villain, don't she know that's Dan's job? The bitch will learn though and I look forward to seeing it all play out.

WOO HOO!

And then that brings us to...Brooke. I want to see her win against her bitchy ass mother and I want to see her bring that bitch down. I also want to know who the hell was behind that beating. I want to know if she was raped, I want to know if Victoria was behind the attack and if she was, I want to see her get her just desserts. I feel horribly for Brooke and it's all the more worst because Peyton and Lucas are nowhere to be found. Man, it's going to be soooo good this season and I cannot effing wait because.....

LUCAS AND PEYTON ARE TOGETHER AGAIN, WOO FRICKIN' HOO!

Until next week...
