Movie Review: X Men Origins: Wolverine.

Posted by: Rowena in , , , ,

Starring: Hugh Jackman, Liev Schrieber, Ryan Reynolds, Taylor Kitsch, Will.I.Am. and a bunch of other people.
Rating: PG-13 for intense sequences of action and violence and some partial nudity.
Grade: A

"X-Men Origins: Wolverine" tells the story of Wolverine's epically violent and romantic past, his complex relationship with Victor Creed, and the ominous Weapon X program. Along the way, Wolverine encounters many mutants, both familiar and new, including surprise appearances by several legends of the X-Men universe.

I took my teenager kids to watch this movie and holy wow this movie was off the chains good. I hadn't been to a movie since The Race to Witch Mountain (I think) and this movie blew that movie out of the water. I wasn't a big X Men fan of the cartoons, I watched them because my brother watched them but I wasn't wild about them the way that I'm wild about the movies. I just think they're so frickin' cool. I don't think I've seen any X Men movie that I haven't absolutely loved and this movie was no exception. This movie rocked my socks and I want to watch this movie again.

It was so good to see where Logan came from and to see all of the puzzle pieces of how Wolverine came to be brought to life. It was ah-maz-ing!

But as much as I loved Wolverine, my favorite part of this movie is hands down:

This guy is super sexy in Friday Night Lights but in Wolverine...YUMMA! I mean, look at this picture? How sexy is he? As Riggins or as Gambit, Taylor Kitsch is HAWT and he was a welcome addition to the X Men cast. LOVED HIM!

The team that Striker put together with Victor (VICTTOOORRRRR!) and Jimmy and all of them was super tight. When Zero did his thing at the beginning, I had a goofy grin on my face because I was half in love with him but then Ryan Reynolds got up there and did his crazy knife dance and my other half was in love with him....but then my love for the both of them gave way to Gambit.

*sigh*

This whole movie was great. I can't wait to see it again, I soooo want to see it again. If you haven't seen this movie, you need to get on that (Izzy), this movie is the business! And don't forget to stay until after the credits because there are different scenes at the end. It's great!

Movie Review: X-Men Origins: Wolverine

I'm a big Hugh Jackman fan and I've always loved the X-Men movies. So I've been anxious to see this movie ever since I heard it was being made.

From the very first X-Men movie, Logan, aka Wolverine, has had a mysterious past. We found out where the adamantine was added to his skeleton but we didn't know what led him to having that surgery. Those questions are answered in Origins. Logan was born in the 1800s and orphaned at a young age, along with his older brother Victor. The opening sequence of the movie takes us through quite a few wars (Civil, WWI, WWII and the Vietnam war) and Logan is fed up with the fighting. So he decides to settle down but his past comes back to haunt him and the woman he loves is killed. Off he goes to get vengeance and the person he is looking for is none other than his brother Victor.

What did I think? I loved it. Hugh Jackman anyone? LOL It's a good action-y movie that doesn't take itself seriously. Wolverine has a dark humour that I've enjoyed in all the movies. It was interesting to see about his past and there were some new characters - Gambit (Taylor Kitsch - yum!) really stands out for me.

So if you're a fan of the X-Men franchise, don't miss this. If you're not a fan of mutants, action sequences, claws, motorcycles, hot guys, etc. you can wait for the DVD. LOL
