Movie Review: Vicky Cristina Barcelona

Posted by: ~ames~

I know there are some Scarlett Johansson haters out there, but I like her!  LOL  I rented this one because of her and Penelope Cruz.  I adore PC!!  And she was really good in this movie, so I'm glad she won the Oscar for best supporting actress.

All right then - we have Vicky (Rebecca Hall - beautiful!) and her friend Cristina (SJ) going to Spain for the summer.  Vicky is doing some research on architecture and Cristina is along for a good time.  Vicky is also engaged to be married, with her fiance slaving away in New York or some place like that.  So the girls are out late one night when they notice this older gentleman across the bar.  He's suave, he's an artist and he outright comes up to them and asks them to go with him to this small town and he mentions he wouldn't mind sleeping with them.  Vicky is disgusted and says no but Cristina is always up for new experiences and drags Vicky along with her.  So Juan Antonia (Javier Bardem - yummy!) flies Vicky and Cristina to this small town where he's gone for inspiration and sets about seducing these two American girls.  Cristina is all for it and goes up to his room but ends up getting sick.  So Vicky and Juan Antonio spend the rest of the trip hanging out just the two of them and Vicky succumbs to Juan Antonio's charms.

Then they all return to Barcelona and Cristina picks up where she left of with Juan Antonio and eventually moves in with him.  But one day he gets a call from his very upset ex-wife and he goes to get her out of the hospital.  Yes, the ex-wife is none other than Penelope Cruz, a very fragile and wild Maria Elena.  She's tempestuous and murderous too.  And seductive as hell.  It isn't too long before Maria Elena is in bed with both Cristina and Juan Antonio.  But when Cristina wants to leave, both ME and JA are heartbroken.  They both have fallen in love with her.   :(

I enjoyed VCB.  The scenery is lush (I want to go to Spain one day!!) and I loved watching some good looking people enacting an interesting story for my viewing pleasure.

Bones and Dollhouse

Bones:

I liked this episode. Nothing much really happened though. Bones accidentally made Booth's back pain worse. So for the most part Booth was hopped up on vicoden. Although I like how he was talking about Bones soft skin and silky dark hair to Agent Perotta.

So I take it Agent Perotta has a crush brewing for Booth. Now.. I want Booth and Bones to hook up, however.. not yet. I like the sexual tension between the two. And I don't want Booth and Bones to get together and then later have them break up for ratings or whatever. Cause you know how they like to create drama with couples like that to keep us watching.

Other than that, it was enjoyable episode.

Dollhouse:

The pilot episode, I was meh about the show. This episode, I got a little more on board with it.

You have agents, dolls, who are child like. They just wander around the building (dollhouse) until there are needed for a job. They are imprinted with a personality to match the job and then the doll springs into action. After the job is complete, their memories are wiped clean. Except it looks like Echo might be retaining something.

Also, a few months before, a man by the name of Alpha went on a killing spree. He spared Echo but we don't know why. Or why he tried to have her killed on her latest mission. Which reminded me of The Most Dangerous Game.

Then you have an FBI guy searching for the Dollhouse. Which no one but him believes exists.

So far I like. We'll see how the rest of season goes.

Show Rundown

I know it's been a while. Sorry. I'll just go over my thoughts on my shows really quick.

CSI:

So Grissom is now gone. Although it's sad not to see him on the show anymore, I'm not really missing him. I like Laurence Fishburn's character. Can't remember is name at the moment. But watching on the first day was kind of cute. When he panicked to lift the fingerprint on the door knob.

I'm still enjoying the show and as long Nick doesn't leave I'm a happy camper.

Grey's Anatomy:

I knew Izzy's lab worked got switched. Now we play the waiting game to find out if she'll die, when she'll tell the rest of the gang and all that jazz.

George, George. Give the man a story line. It doesn't have to be a love story. But give him something to work with. I like George.

Callie, I just feel like they forcing a story with a woman on us. Just let it happen naturally. First Hahn, then he's lusting after Sadie and now the peds doctor. Geez. I like the ped doctor, but Callie does not need to be in a relationship.

I'm glad Meredith and Christina are talking again. I was crying during the episode when she went to the killer's execution. When she walked out in tears.

I was almost in tears last night when the guy was crying over his wife. And I did feel bad for Derek trying to save the woman's life. But the fight with him and Sloan. Hot damn. Mark picked a bad time to tell Derek about him and Lexie.

See.. what else.... I think Bailey will make a great peds doctor.

Burn Notice:

Ok, Michael freaking out that Fi may have die in the fire. Him caressing her face and then getting her breakfast the day. awww, even if she left. I like how Fi is playing it cool and making Michael talk to her about it but not playing hard to get. You know what I mean? I really like these two together. I've heard what ifs about Fi being the one who burned Michael but I hope they are not true.

But her comment at the end Thursday night's show has me paranoid. Where she says she needs Michael alive. Is it because she loves him? Or because she's behind all of this? Next weeks show looks good with Michael's ex fiance showing up. Love the look on Fi's face.

Life on Mars:

I missed the first episodes cause my DVR went crazy. So I missed what happened with the basement and with Gene's daughter Maria. I enjoyed last night's episode. With Sam so close to finding out how to get home. The cyptic message from the hooker was kind of creepy.

I have to agree with annie as to why Ray is sooo... what's the word.. I don't know. But why he's so afraid of Annie. Maybe deep down he admires her? Nah, i don't think so.

Stilll to watch: Bones, Sarah Connor and Dollhouse.

Life On Mars -Last Planet I Kissed

So I was catching up on Life On Mars, and this little one hit wonder got stuck in my head. That and the actor who portrayed the singer is kind of hot. For your listening pleasure.
