Dave Lizewski, a comic-book fanboy, decides to take his obsession as inspiration to become a real-life superhero. As any good superhero would, he chooses a new name -- Kick-Ass -- assembles a suit and mask to wear, and gets to work fighting crime. There's only one problem standing in his way: Kick-Ass has absolutely no superpowers. His life is forever changed as he inspires a subculture of copy cats, is hunted by assorted violent and unpleasant characters, and meets up with a pair of crazed vigilantes, including an 11-year-old sword-wielding dynamo, Hit Girl and her father, Big Daddy.Last night, Chelsea and I were the only ones home so we opted to go and see Kick Ass. The last movie that just me and Chelsea went to see was The Hangover so we wanted to see another movie that was sure to keep us in fits of laughter so we chose this movie.
We were not disappointed because this movie had us laughing from the beginning to the end. I'll be honest and tell you guys that I went into this movie thinking it was going to be one of those stupid movies but this movie actually had a plot that I could get behind. It reminded me of a lighter version of Ninja Assassin.
I gotta say that as much as I adored Kick Ass, for me, it was totally about Hit Girl. She was the bomb! Totally awesome and even though she had the worst potty mouth for someone her age, I still adored her. It was good to see Auggie again (from Role Models), I've missed him and his whipering eye whispering self, haha.
This movie is not suitable for young viewers but for us adults, it's great entertainment. I totally recommend this movie if you're in the mood for something kick ass and totally funny.
Voldemort is tightening his grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was. Harry suspects that dangers may even lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching. Together they work to find the key to unlock Voldemort's defenses and, to this end, Dumbledore recruits his old friend and colleague, the well-connected and unsuspecting bon vivant Professor Horace Slughorn, whom he believes holds crucial information. Meanwhile, the students are under attack from a very different adversary as teenage hormones rage across the ramparts. Harry finds himself more and more drawn to Ginny, but so is Dean Thomas. And Lavender Brown has decided that Ron is the one for her, only she hadn't counted on Romilda Vane's chocolates! And then there's Hermione, simmering with jealousy but determined not to show her feelings. As romance blossoms, one student remains aloof. He is determined to make his mark, albeit a dark one. Love is in the air, but tragedy lies ahead and Hogwarts may never be the same again.
Since everyone and their moms are reviewing this movie, I'll keep mine short and sweet. I went and watched this movie on opening day. It wasn't too crowded but it was pretty full.
I loved this movie. It's been a while since I read the books so I don't remember exactly what was kept and left out. I do know two important scenes were left out. Which was a bummer but I didn't miss them. I did wish they expanded more on who the half blood prince was.
As for everything else, I loved it. Loved the teenager hormones. Loved watching Harry and Ginny. My heart went out to Hermione when she saw Lavender kiss Ron. It was sweet Harry went and comforted her.
My favorite movie of the year so far.
The fate of the galaxy rests in the hands of bitter rivals. One, James Kirk, is a delinquent, thrill-seeking Iowa farm boy. The other, Spock, was raised in a logic-based society that rejects all emotion. As fiery instinct clashes with calm reason, their unlikely but powerful partnership is the only thing capable of leading their crew through unimaginable danger, boldly going where no one has gone before.
This was a movie my hubby wanted to watch. I had no interest at all watching this. I kind of remember watching the old tv series. I do sometimes watch Enterprise and Voyager with my husband. Other than that.. just not into Star Trek.
I was really prepared to be bored. I wasn't it. I really liked this movie. It had action, some funny parts, a little bit of a love story, and cute guys.
My husband I both noticed Carson from Stargate Atlantis. Blinked and you missed him. He was one of the officers assigning people to their ships. I also caught when Scotty mentioned transporting Archer's prized beagle. It's the same Archer from Enterprise right???
Anyways, I thought this movie was excellent. Even if you've never watched any of the Star Treks you'll still enjoy this movie. Go watch it if you have a chance. Here is Ame's post about Star Trek if you don't believe me.
Grade: A.

So I went and saw Star Trek on Saturday. I'm already planning on seeing it again.
That's right, I LOVED it!!
I grew up watching Star Trek with my papa and I loved revisiting the franchise. I'm not a hard core Trekkie or anything, but I do enjoy the adventures of the starship Enterprise. LOL
Also, young Spock is sexy. The cast was excellent all the way around, there was awesome action, they were emotional scenes that almost had me crying (the beginning!) and it had some great funny scenes.
Even if you don't like Star Trek (in any of its incantations) you will enjoy this movie. It takes us back to the beginning and to an alternate reality. GO SEE THIS MOVIE!!!!
Also, Eric Bana is in it.

Former government operative Bryan Mills begins the longest 96-hours of his life--and the hunt for the fearsome organization that has taken his daughter Kim. Mills had only recently given up his government career as what he calls a preventer to be near Kim, who lives with Bryan's ex-wife Lenore and her new husband. To make ends meet, Bryan joins some former colleagues for special security details (like guarding a pop diva), but most of his time and energy are spent re-connecting with Kim. Bryan's familial goal is nearly derailed when Kim requests his permission to spend time in Paris with a friend. All too aware of the dangers that could lie ahead for Kim in a foreign land, Bryan says no, but Kim's disappointment leads him to very reluctantly relent. Bryan's worst fears are realized when Kim and her friend Amanda are suddenly abducted--in broad daylight--from the Paris apartment at which they've just arrived. Moments before Kim is dragged away by the as yet unseen and unknown assailants, she manages to phone Bryan, who begins to expertly piece together clues that will take him to the darkness of Paris's underworld, and to the City of Light's plushest mansions. He will face nightmares worse than anything he experienced in black ops--and let nothing and no one stop him from saving his daughter.I don't know what my enjoyment of this movie says about me but hot damn this movie was good. I read on Yahoo! Movies that all of the critics gave this movie a C but, I rate my movies based on my enjoyment of a movie and this entertained the socks right off of me. I don't care about anything other than this movie entertained me. Like Lil Mama loves to say when she's judging the dance crews on America's Best Dance Crew, "Ya'll entertained me" and that's what I would say to Liam Neeson should I ever see him and he ask my opinion on this movie.
The subject surrounding this movie isn't a nice one. It's not all peaches and roses but man, the depth of this man's love for his daughter is to be commended. I mean, this fool went on a frickin' killing spree, killing every fool in France to find his daughter. It was tight. The way that he was intently focused on finding his daughter and the lengths that he went to, to get her back made me kinda wish that he was my Dad but then I thought, nahhhh...I'm not stupid enough to go to Paris all by myself and then tell some facking Frenchie fag that me and my friend are all alone and have the whole house to ourselves after sharing a cab and letting him know where the hell we're staying, setting up my own damn kidnapping in the process. So I'm glad that I'm not stupid to need him as a Dad...which is good because I love my Dad. But just because I love my Dad, doesn't mean that it wouldn't be tight to have Bryan as my Dad because he has skills that have been aquired over the course of many years that aided him in his career. Skills that make it a nightmare for people like stupid Frenchie fag because he will look for them, he will find them and he will....kill them.
And he did all of that dammit. It was off the hook. You should you watch this movie for yourself because it was that good.
Watch this movie. Dammit.

The story of Jamal Malik, an 18 year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai, who is about to experience the biggest day of his life. With the whole nation watching, he is just one question away from winning a staggering 20 million rupees on India's "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" But when the show breaks for the night, police arrest him on suspicion of cheating; how could a street kid know so much? Desperate to prove his innocence, Jamal tells the story of his life in the slum where he and his brother grew up, of their adventures together on the road, of vicious encounters with local gangs, and of Latika, the girl he loved and lost. Each chapter of his story reveals the key to the answer to one of the game show's questions. Intrigued by Jamal's story, the jaded Police Inspector begins to wonder what a young man with no apparent desire for riches is really doing on this game show? When the new day dawns and Jamal returns to answer the final question, the Inspector and sixty million viewers are about to find out...
Dude, this movie was good. From the beginning of the movie to the end of the movie, I was riveted. The story of Jamal and the way him and his brother brought themselves up and survived the life that they fell into. It was a pretty fierce slap to the face, the reality that was their lives. With all of the bad things that happened to Jamal, I wouldn't have been surprised if he turned to the kind of life that his brother turned to. The one that caught Latika as well.
I wasn't expecting the movie to turn out the way that it was. Well, actually I didn't even know what to expect from the movie. I hadn't heard much about the movie until I finally saw it and I was pleasantly surprised at how good this movie was. The love story between Jamal and Latika was such a sweet one that it drove the movie for me. It was the reason, I was so into the movie. The depth of Jamal's love for Latika was so unbelievably sweet that I found myself sighing all over this movie. The lengths that he went through to get her to understand that he loved her was TOO SWEET!
*sigh*
This movie was a good one, not just the love story but the story of survival that the boys go through and then the different paths they take make for a very interesting and very engrossing movie. I definitely recommend this movie.
SO GOOD!

Walt Kowalski is a widower, grumpy, tough-minded, borderline-hateful, unhappy old man who can't get along with either his kids or his neighbors, a Korean War veteran whose prize possession is a 1973 Gran Torino he keeps in cherry condition. When his neighbor Tao, a young Hmong teenager, tries to steal his Gran Torino, Kowalski sets out to reform the youth. Drawn against his will into the life of Tao's family, Kowalski is soon taking steps to protect them form the gangs that foul their neighborhood.
I really like watching Clint Eastwood movies. Aside from my chick flicks, I absolutely LOVE watching war movies and though this wasn't a war movie, it featured a war veteran and after watching a whole lot of Band of Brothers yesterday, I was really in the mood to watch and read more military themed books. Well, books that had military vets and men in them.
Now, this movie has nothing to do with the Korean war or any war for that matter but it's the story of a Korean war veteran who's wife died and who's just waiting for his turn to kick the bucket. He's very bitter over his new neighbors, his family and life in general. He's not ashamed to let everyone around him feel his misery either. He pops off at the mouth at every turn and he's not known to have very many friends. Underneath all of the put downs is a very good man and it is his neighbors, an Asian family who find all of this out for themselves.
After his wife's funeral, a string of things happen in his neighborhood and in his life that bring him closer and closer to his neighbors. There's gangs haunting their neighborhood and his health is a big concern and then there's his distant relationship with his own kids. He doesn't connect with his kids and they don't understand him. He needs help around his house and instead of bothering his kids, he asks his neighbor, Tao to help him out and Tao, a good Asian kid is always happy to help.
I really enjoyed this movie. I enjoyed getting to know Mr. Kowalski's surly self and I enjoyed Sue's persistent way of befriending Walt and I enjoyed the friendship that blossomed between Tao and Walt. This whole movie was just a really good movie. The acting was fantastic, the characters were rich and the story moved at an easy pace that just hooked me in right from the very beginning. I would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to watch something deep and just plain ol' good.

The Dark Knight - ames' take on it

With a cast like that, how can the Dark Knight be anything but EXCELLENT??
I can't even describe how awesome TDK was. It just was. Go see it. LOL
Plus, check out the hotness that is Christian Bale and Aaron Eckhardt.

I have to agree with Izzy - Batman's voice was annoying. Ugh.
And Heath? What a great performance! His laugh freaked me out and he truly was in the character, and that character is pure chaos and anarchy. He gave me shivers!
With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, Batman sets out to destroy organized crime in Gotham for good. The triumvirate proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a rising criminal mastermind known as the Joker, who thrusts Gotham into anarchy and forces the Dark Knight ever closer to crossing the fine line between hero and vigilante.
I don't even know where to begin.
First of all, I LOVED the original Batman. I saw it in the theater with my parents when it first came out. I loved The Joker. I don't know why, but I just did. It was the movie that me watch the cheesy and corny tv series with Adam West. It was Jack Nicholson's Joker that me love the joker. So when i saw Batman Begins and saw the joker card at the end, I thought, "oh hell ya! THE JOKER!" Seriously, how can you have a Batman movie without the joker? So Saturday, I dragged hubby to watch this movie with me. He owed me for making me watch Hell Boy 2.
Wow. That's all I can really saw about the movie. Wow.
Christian Bale as Bruce/Batman- I think he makes an awesome batman. The only thing that annoys me is his gravely hoarse voice he uses when he's batman. I know he has to have a sore throat at the end of day when filming as Batman. Other than that, i have no problems with him. He was looking pretty damn hot too. When he's in his suit walking around as Bruce Wayne. Yummy!!!!
Heath Ledger as the Joker- There is no way you can compare his joker to Jack Nicholson's Joker. You can't. Heath's Joker was completely different from Jack's Joker. Jack's Joker was more comic book. More of a prankster. Heath's Joker was just... dark, creepy, frightening. There was a scene where Joker was sitting in the jail cell and it was frightening. The look on his face. And he was funny in a dark twisted way. Another scene, has the Joker just kind of strolling out of the hospital in a nurse's outfit, like la la la. He's playing with a detonator and all of a sudden it goes off and the Joker takes off running. His laugh, oh my, I loved his laugh. Loved it. He did an awesome job portraying the joker. Very well done.
Harvey Dent/Two Face- When I first saw his face (as Two Face), i was thinking, "Eww." He reminded me of a terminator. It was nothing like Tommy Lee Jone's Two Face. It felt/looked more real. I really felt bad for him and his story line reminded me a lot of the comic book, The Killing Joke. About how just one bad day can make any man insane. He wasn't really a villain. Just someone who lost everything and wanted revenge.
The plot/story was good. I was shocked with the killing of certain people. Wasn't expecting that. I was also surprised Two Face was featured. I thought he would be the villain for the next movie. Since he's not, I wonder who is. Hmmmm, I wouldn't mind seeing Catwoman or the Riddler.
All in all, The Dark Knight, is a very good movie. Wow and awesome are the first words that come to mind when I think of this movie. Go forth and watch it!

I took my brothers to see Kung Fu Panda yesterday. When I saw the first preview way back when, I wasn't impressed. I thought "Oh God - what next?" But then just a few weeks ago, I saw a different preview and I laughed so hard, I knew this was going o be a winner. And was it ever! I laughed so hard, my brothers laughed so hard and all the parents and teeny weeny kids in the theater laughed so hard. I had tears at one point!!
Jack Black voices Po, our chubby panda working in a noodle shop. He dreams of being a Kung Fu master, so when the search is on for the legendary Dragon warrior, Po races to the Jade Temple to get a look at the chosen one. So yeah, the Jade Temple is at the top of a veeeery long flight of stairs and Po is not in the greatest shape. By the time he gets to the top, Po has been shut out of the Temple as the ceremony begins.
Desperate to get inside, Po geniusly straps himself to a chair tied to a bunch of firecrackers. He gets inside the Temple, only to be chosen as the Dragon Warrior. To the delight of NONE. Master Shifu and Master Tigress are both severely disappointed. Master Shifu throws all he can at Po, but Po doesn't give up.
Behind all of this is danger in the form of Master Shifu's former student Tai Lung, a snow leopard. Master Shifu fears him so much, thus the search for the Dragon Warrior. Tai Lung is in prison, and Shifu fears his escape.
Kung Fu Pando is the awesomeness and I highly recommend going to see this movie. It's the good stuff.

Movie Description from Yahoo! Movies: Tony Stark is a billionaire industrialist and genius inventor who is kidnapped and forced to build a devastating weapon. Instead, using his intelligence and ingenuity, Tony builds a high-tech suit of armor and escapes captivity. When he uncovers a nefarious plot with global implications, he dons his powerful armor and vows to protect the world as Iron Man.
Starring: Robert Downey JR., Terrance Howard, Gywneth Paltrow, Jeff Bridges
Rating: PG-13
Ok - let the summer blockbusters begin!
Iron Man is the first, imo, of the big blockbuster movies of summer. And OMG what a way to start!
Tony Stark (RDJ) is a gazillionaire playboy who owns a weapons company. He's also a crazy genius type who can build anything from practically nothing (thus the iron suit in a CAVE-LOL). When he's taken captive by insurgents who have his weapons, Tony needs to deal with the reality of what he does. He's creating weapons that are being used to kill innocent people.
So when the military refuses to act, Tony redesigns his desert Iron Man suit and goes after some bad guys! Woot.
Seriously, this movie is so much more than that. It's FUNNY and action-packed and it definitely draws you in.
A great way to start the summer movie season. A

The tale follows the beautiful princess Giselle as she is banished by an evil queen from her magical, musical animated land--and finds herself in the gritty reality of the streets of modern-day Manhattan. Shocked by this strange new environment that doesn't operate on a "happily ever after" basis, Giselle is now adrift in a chaotic world badly in need of enchantment. But when Giselle begins to fall in love with a charmingly flawed divorce lawyer who has come to her aid--even though she is already promised to a perfect fairy tale prince back home--she has to wonder: can a storybook view of romance survive in the real world?Izzy and I watched this movie last week for the first time and we haven't been able to talk much of anything else so we decided to review this together, to do a buddy review and instead of me reviewing it and then her reviewing it, we're just going to cut and paste our entire converstaion we had through email about this movie.
Rowena: So what did you like about the movie?
Izzy: I liked it all. lol. The characters, the music, the dance numbers, Robert, Edward, Giselle, ... all of it. I just thought it was a cute movie. Your standard Disney movie. lol.
Rowena: I know me too...the movie didn't drag as most movies I've watched lately have and I really enjoyed the relationship between Giselle and Robert's daughter. I loved when they went shopping and had a girls' day...what did they call it?
Izzy: Oo I forget but when his daughter said, "Is this what it feel like?" In referring to having a mom. Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww.
No, it didn't drag at all.
Rowena: Yeah I really enjoyed the movie and I felt bad for Edward because he just never gets the girl. LOL.
And haha, your Mom thinks that the evil witch of a queen was beautiful...haha.
Izzy: I know. Only my mom.
Ok, here is one thing... Edward. He was a cutie and I liked him and all. But all the past Disney princes were.. dashing, manly. And edward was kind of a bumbling kind of prince. I think it was wrong they did that to poor edward. lol.
Rowena: I see your point but was he really the Prince of the story? I don't think they could have made him the kind of Prince that we're used to from Disney because he didn't end up with the girl, therefore he wasn't really the prince of the story, you know? Like, they deceived us into thinking that Edward was Prince Charming when in all actuality, it was really Robert. And now that I'm thinking on it, it's pretty genius for them to do this because they showed to us that even though Prince Charming is a fantasy of fairy tales, he can also be real...your Prince Charming can be a regular Billy or Joe around your town, it's all in the way we perceive our Prince. So they took a regular guy and made him into a Prince that we could all appreciate and relate to. Ya know?
That's what I think is really great about this movie.
Izzy: Never thought about it that way. Good point. Still, they could have made him a little more alpha. I still loved him though and I'm glad he got his HEA.
Robert now... Robert... Like you said yesterday. Loved when he was dancing with her at the ball and sang to her. Sigh
Rowena: Now Robert when he sang to Giselle at the ball at the end, my heart did a little pitter patter inside my chest and I imagined it was me that he was twirling around the dance floor and singing to. haha.
Alright, what's your favorite song? Mine is How Will I Know? And funny thing, last night Chloe opened up the window because it was super hot in our room and she sang out into the night (we were straightening up our room) and she started singing the cleaning song and sang, "Ahhhhh ahhh ahhhhhhhhh" and I go, "Oh great, you killed all the animals in L.A."
LMAO.
Izzy: LOL! She did that! LOL That's too funny! Dang, I would have to say my favorite is the Happy Working Song. I don't know... there is just something about it. La la de dum dum. LOL! She expects her woodland friends and the pigeons, rats and roaches show up. LOL!
a close second is That's How you know. When they all bust out dancing and singing and Robert is just standing there. lol.
Rowena: Yep, that totally happened last night and me and Chelsea were all cracking up.
When Robert is just standing there all embarrassed at first because she's all singing with the sidewalk drummers, "How does she know that you love her?" haha...it was hilarious. Dude what was hilarious though was before the song started, how she started to sing to Robert and he's like, "Whoa wait, what?" and she's all singing, "How will she know you love her?" haha.
Izzy: LOL! I know. Cause you know what, I got embarrassed too. thinking.. oh no. Something is gonna happen. LOL! Then everyone started singing and I was like.. ok. LOL! So I felt his embarrassment too.
I think deep down, Robert believed in true love and all that. He was just in denial and Giselle just kind put all there in his face you know?
Rowena: Look, it's the best scene! *sigh* I LOVE IT!
Izzy: The chick who plays nancy... bugs me. It's her face. lol.
Awwwwww!
Rowena: She's got a long face and a nose that just won't quit...I'll always see her singing about the cow that jumped over the moon on Rent, lol.
What else did you want to add?
Izzy: You should add what me and you said yesterday too. Like When Edward kissed Giselle and she didn't wake up. Awwwwww. Poor Edward.
I don't know. I just thought this movie was just too cute. I had to buy it and the soundtrack cause I just loved the songs.
Rowena: Alright, I'll add that stuff too...I'm watching the Happy Cleaning Song. I love the songs too. I even love Carrie Underwood's song.
Izzy: I love so close. The carrie Underwood song, it's all right. But... So close cause.. Patrick Dempsey. LOL!
Nancy just looks... i don't know. In that scene, not pretty. The other scenes she looks all right. She can sing though.
Rowena: You know, I had to put that song on right now, right? LOL...PD is just too effing cute in this movie. We sound like little schoolgirls, giggling over how cute the football captain is.
Izzy: He was too cute. sigh. What about when he freaked out with all the rats in the house. Lol.
Rowena: That was hilarious and when he got all pissed off that she cut his curtains? TOO EFFING CUTE.
Izzy: I know! But then the next day when he sees it, he smiles. awwwww.
When Pip was trying to tell Edwards Nathanial's plot. lol.
Rowena: Oh I know, and how Edward thought everything was about him. IT'S NOT ABOUT YOU EDWARD! Oh and another thing I liked was how sure Giselle was that Prince Edward would find her. I thought that was cute.
Izzy: Oh i know. Edward will come for me. That was cute. lol.
Or how about how upset she was when that one couple was getting divorced or when she thought Pip died.
Rowena: Oh you're right, that was cute too!
So should our readers watch this movie or what? What's your final verdict?
Izzy: Hell ya they should watch it. lol.
Rowena: Amen sister, A-frickin'-men! Check out this scene, if you're not sure..it's funny and just so uber cute:

Juno is a whip-smart teen confronting an unplanned pregnancy by her classmate Bleeker. With the help of her hot best friend Leah, Juno finds her unborn child a "perfect" set of parents: an affluent suburban couple, Mark and Vanessa, longing to adopt. Luckily, Juno has the total support of her parents as she faces some tough decisions, flirts with adulthood and ultimately figures out where she belongs.
I saw this movie last night with my sister and my nieces and we laughed from the beginning of the movie (with Dwight, HA!) to the end with bouts of tears in between as well. I, personally didn't cry which surprises me since I'm the family sap but I was touched in some scenes of this movie. I really enjoyed the movie. It was one of those movies that made you smile, giggle and then laugh out loud because the lines, the lines in this movie were a laugh a minute.
Juno is hilarious all on her own but her dad cracked me up, when Juno finally told her parents that she was pregnant and she tells them who the father of the baby is and the Dad is all surprised and the best friend laughs and is like, "I know, right?" and then when the Dad tells the Step Mom after Juno and the best friend go upstairs, when he says, "The next time I see that Pauly Bleeker, I'm gonna punch him in the weiner." HA! Oh goodness, this movie was good. I loved Bleeker's gold shorts, I laughed when Juno tells us that they don't wear underwear underneath those gold shorts and then it zooms in on their junk and you can see it swinging back and forth...LOL, too funny!
I liked Jennifer Garner's character in this movie, you could tell just how much she wanted a baby and you could tell that she was ready and that Jason Bateman wasn't...I didn't know that he didn't want to be married either, but dude...there was a part of the movie when I was like, "Wait a minute...what's going on here?" but I got over that part especially since everything ended well.
Juno totally made this movie enjoyable but the other characters added to the good stuff in this movie, it was truly a really cute and funny movie, one that I totally recommend to all of you guys who are looking for something funny to watch. That song that they sing at the end, I was crackin the heck up when Juno sings, "Here's the Church, there's the steeple, we're pretty cute for two ugly people!" Oh goodness, it was too funny...and don't even get me started on her hamburger phone! hahahaha.
Juno is the movie to watch, it's too cute! Go forth and watch it now!

Am I ever glad I finally got to see this movie the other night. It's definitely as good as people say it is. That's always a good thing. LOL
It was funny, but it also had its touching moments, which didn't make me cry or anything. (Some, who have cried during a particularly poignant scene, stared at me aghast when I told them I didn't cry. Whatev, as Juno would say. haha)
The movie opens up with Juno drinking 3 big jugs of Sunny D so she can take her 3rd pregnancy test (hilarious beginning to a movie, btw, with Dwight making an appearance). What follows is her dealing with it, telling the dad, her best friend, and finally her parents. All of these characters are hilarious in their own way. Some would say I have an affinity for Juno's step-mom, Brenda. If you see the movie, you'll know why, but really, Allison Janney is soo funny. She's got a good scene when she verbally abuses an ultrasound technician. Haha! Anyway, Juno also finds prospective parents for her unborn child (whom she finds in the Pennysaver beside the exotic birds ads) who have their own problems and Juno is kind of the catalyst for those too.
Really, go see this movie. It's funny, touching, and its great seeing good actors in a good movie, acting well. LOL Good soundtrack too.
Yesterday, I went with my mom and sister to watch 27 Dresses. That movie is so cute. You must watch it. James Marsden is a cutie and I love his cynical self and how Jane figured it was all just for show. That he really is a softie.
Since Rowena and Gracie already reviewed it, I'm just going to list my favorites scenes:
* When Jane tries on all the bridesmaids dresses for Kevin. Some of those were hideous! When she pulled out the southern belle dress I whispered to my sister, "At least I didn't make you wear that."
* When Kevin and Jane sing Benny and the Jets at the bar. LOL.
* When Kevin helps Jane down from the bar and admits he cried like a baby.
* When her little electronic date books goes off and Benny and Jets play.
* When Jane suggests registering ugly things on Tess' register to cheer Kevin up.
* When Jane finds Kevin penciled himself in for every Saturday in her day planner.
So yes, see this movie. I think Joey, my hubby, would have liked it, but he said he wasn't going to watch a chick flick with a bunch of girls.
And because he's a cutie:
Tee hee.

Jane is idealistic, romantic and completely selfless--a perennial bridesmaid whose own happy ending is nowhere in sight. But when younger sister Tess captures the heart of Jane's boss--with whom she is secretly in love--Jane begins to reexamine her "always-a-bridesmaid..." lifestyle. (Yahoo Movies)
Oh gosh, where to start with this oh-so-cute movie! It had all the ingredients for a cute and sappy romantic comedy and I absolutely LOVED it! This movie had me laughing out loud, gasping in embarrassment and horror and even ready to cry my eyes out because what I was seeing on screen was hurting my heart. It was fantastic!
The movie starts off with Jane as a young girl, attending a wedding with her father and her younger sister. And right from this scene, we see how Jane begins to "take care" of everyone around her, starting with her younger sister. And it is also in this scene where we see Jane's obsession with weddings jump start.
Fastforward to the present day, and we see exactly how her obsession has grown over the years and how dedicated she is in taking care of her bridesmaid duties beyond the call of duty. It was quite exhausting, actually, watching her do what she did, to cater to every whim of the bride. She even went to the extreme of attending on two brides in the one evening.
And it's this particular evening that she meets Kevin (James Marsden).
*sigh* Oh how I heart James Marsden. Lots. He was just too bloody cute in this movie. I loved how he was the carefree easy going type of person to try and balance Jane out. I absolutely loved how he tried to insert himself into Jane's life even though she wanted nothing to do with him and his anti-marriage thoughts. LOL. And even more, I loved how he encouraged Jane to take a stand and stop prioritising everyone else and their lives over hers and her dreams..and to actually let loose and have some fun. He was just a great match for Jane all round. I heart him, did I mention that yet? Haha.
The only part I didn't like about this movie (and really, it was only a minor part) was Jane's sister, Tess. Gosh, she got on my nerves! She was just too...too much! And I hated how she just let Jane take care of her all the time and continued to lie through her teeth to keep George (Jane's boss) interested in her. Ugh. But I suppose that was apart of the plan, so I guess the writers and the actress did a good job in making the audience frustrated on Jane's behalf, huh?
All in all, this movie is a keeper for me. I watched it with my BFF last week and I totally recommend you guys do the same. It's a great chicky-la-la flick that will bring a grin to your face and a giddy feeling to your heart.

When Ted Crawford discovers that his beautiful younger wife, Jennifer, is having an affair, he plans her murder--the perfect murder. Among the cops arriving at the crime scene is hostage negotiator Detective Rob Nunally, the only officer permitted entry to the house. Surprisingly, Crawford readily admits to shooting his wife, but Nunally is too stunned to pay close attention when he recognizes his lover, whose true identity he never knew, lying on the floor in a pool of blood. Although Jennifer was shot at point blank range, Nunally realizes she isn't dead. Crawford is immediately arrested and arraigned after confessing--a seemingly slam-dunk case for hot shot assistant district attorney Willy Beachum, who has one foot out the door of the District Attorney's office on his way to a lucrative job in high-stakes corporate law. But nothing is as simple as it seems, including this case. Will the lure of power and a love affair with a sexy, ambitious attorney at his new firm overpower Willy's fierce drive to win, or worse, quash his code of ethics? In a tense duel of intellect and strategy, Crawford and Willy both learn that a "fracture" can be found in every ostensibly perfect facade.
Holy goodness with a splash of hot diggity dizamn!
This movie was good. It was smart, it was interesting and it had me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. I knew the logistics of what this movie was about and I was interested in seeing how it all played out, how it all came together. I wanted to see if Ryan Gosling's character, Willie Beachum finally got to stick it to Anthony Hopkins character, Ted Crawford because man did he lead Willie on a merry chase.
A merry chase to the truth.
Now, this movie if you've seen the previews is about a young hot shot District Attorney who is not getting paid as much as he should be, landing a job at one of the hottest and top paying firms in Los Angeles. He's got big things in his future and he takes on this one last case for the DA's office and it's an easy deal. The defendant has pleaded guilty to shooting his wife and has turned in the weapon and so it's a piece of cake. Beacham, who already took the high paying job and is expected to start asap, has to tie up this loose end and then he'll be free and hopefully, higher paid.
All of that comes crashing down on him when this easy peasy case doesn't turn out to be so easy....since the guy is completely guilty and yet is about to walk completely free because there's no evidence tying him to the crime.
This movie is about Willie Beacham trying to win this case and save this woman's life....because the wife is alive throughout the whole movie, she's just in acoma. He shot her in the face and though she's not conscious, she's not exactly dead either.
The audience already knows what happened, we're watching Beacham find everything out for himself, hopefully in time to put this guy away.
This movie is one of the main reasons why I heart Ryan Gosling so much. He played his character really well and I totally heart him right now. You were annoyed with how cocky he was at the beginning of the movie and you watched him make a fool of himself and then you saw him pick the pieces of the puzzle and try to make sense of them. He knew that Crawford was playing him and he tried so hard to solve the riddle and you were so hot damn proud of him in every little battle he won. And I'm so hot damn glad that he didn't get back with home girl that dicked him out...I hated that stupid bitch and I'm glad her time in the movie ended when it did, I didn't like her no way.
Hopkins, on the other hand was just as brilliant in this movie as he is in all of his other movies. He had you hating him at the same time you're in awe of his character's cunning. You were amazed at the sheer audacity he had in playing with Beacham's mind and his character was just...smart.
This whole movie was smart and I hecka enjoyed it and I'm sure anyone who watches it will agree. Get this movie and watch it for yourself, you won't be sorry.
This one is another DVD that I will be owning, thank you very much.
Long live Ryan Gosling so that he can make more movies like this one.
