Movie Description (from IMDB): Holly Kennedy is beautiful, smart and married to the love of her life - a passionate, funny, and impetuous Irishman named Gerry. So when Gerry's life is taken by an illness, it takes the life out of Holly. The only one who can help her is the person who is no longer there. Nobody knows Holly better than Gerry. So it's a good thing he planned ahead. Before he died, Gerry wrote Holly a series of letters that will guide her, not only through her grief, but in rediscovering herself. The first message arrives on Holly's 30th birthday in the form of a cake, and to her utter shock, a tape recording from Gerry, who proceeds to tell her to get out and "celebrate herself". In the weeks and months that follow, more letters from Gerry are delivered in surprising ways, each sending her on a new adventure and each signing off in the same way; P.S. I Love You. Holly's mother and best friends begin to worry that Gerry's letters are keeping Holly tied to the past, but in fact, each letter is pushing her further into a new future. With Gerry's words as her guide, Holly embarks on a journey of rediscovery in a story about marriage, friendship and how a love so strong can turn the finality of death into a new beginning for life.
Starring: Hilary Swank, Gerard Butler, Lisa Kudrow, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Gina Gershon
My Grade: B
My Thoughts: After so many mentions of the men in this movie, I broke down on Friday and went to go see it. I'm glad I did. Gerard Butler is hot in this movie! LOL I think it's because he's a happy, go-lucky Irishman with loads of charm. But every scene with him in it, doing a sexy dance for Holly (Hilary Swank), singing in a pub, comforting his widow, they all just blew me away. I'm so shallow, but whatever-it's what got me to the theater. haha! I didn't bawl, but a few scenes had me choking up. Especially the one in the picture below. Holly's visiting Ireland, and she stops by to see Gerry's (Gerard Butler) folks-who have a letter for her. She's reading it, and Gerry is watching over his shoulder. When she reads the end, "P.s. I love you," Gerry puts his forehead on her shoulder and it's just SO SAD.
But this movie isn't all sadness and death. It has its comedic moments that were quite funny. It was pretty balanced that way. Harry Connick, Jr. as a potential suitor with no filter (i.e. blurts out whatever he's thinking) is pretty funny. And Lisa Kudrow's character is lots of fun.
In all, I'm glad I saw this in the theater, and I'll be buying it when it comes out on DVD. :P

Heh, heh... I didn't go to see this for Hilary Swank. ;)
Ha ha Rosie!! Your review was one of the ones that made up my mind. :P
What about Jeffrey Dean Morgan?? Loved when he was on Grey's Anatomy. Hmm...I bet they wouldn't have killed his character if they showed his bum. LOL
And that scene of Gerry's and Holly's first kiss? EEK. "Kissing is a man's business." yum yum.
I saw this last night and loved it! I'll definitely be buying it when it comes out on DVD. We stopped by walmart after the movie and bought the soundtrack. It's excellent! I just wish it had the song Gerry was singing in the pub the 2nd time they met (when she was wearing his jacket).
Dev-I liked the soundtrack too! I haven't seen it at my local wal-mart, but hopefully I can find it somewhere else. That's too bad the pub song isn't on it.
I thought Jerry and William were very yummy!
